IAU île-de-France is a member of Metrex network, the Network of European Metropolitan Regions and Areas, which comprises some 50 metropolises. Metrex holds two conferences a year in spring and autumn. The spring 2009 international conference was organized by IAU île-de-France in Paris. Several meetings took place on 12-13-14 and 15 May with a day at the OECD that brought together over 350 participants from 19 countries and 50 metropolises. Half of the participants were not French, coming from four continents.

Impacts of climate change in North Africa

Financed by the World Bank, a test-study is presently driven with Egis-Bceom & BRGM in order to evaluate the impacts of climate change over three metropolitan areas (Casablanca, Tunis and Alexandria) and the Bouregreg Valley in Rabat.
The idea is to consider a wide panel of natural hazards (floodings, raise of the sea level, urban heat..) and urban vulnerabilities (today and in 2030).
IAU îdF is mostly in charge of Casablanca, in which it has just realized the Master Plan, and also supervises the surveys in the other areas. Hazards and vulnerabilities will afterwards be crossed in order to formulate action plan.

International

Backed by its experience in the Ile-de-France region, IAU île-de-France has also become progressively a leading expert abroad in the field of urban and metropolitan development and management.

Projects and reports

The IAU îdF international activities include short-term consultancies, participations into multi-disciplinary studies and the management of some major projects. Beside the publications on sale in english, most of the technical reports are available at the Media Library.

The IAU îdF always encouraged networking and partnership. From skills and experiences exchange arose a reflection resulting in action and projects. For several years the network was widened to foreign partners of the metropolises.
