Presentation
Public
spaces are prime targets for crime and incivilities and
are where fear of crime is strongest.
This is now a priority issue for city councils, and whilst
waiting for the publication of a European methodology
- currently under study - the development of such spaces
is the subject of much debate.

How can we create a safer environment and reduce the fear of
crime among citizens?
Should these spaces be privatised, closed or renewed?
With the help of PUCA (Plan Urban Planning Construction
Architecture), IAURIF has analysed various experiences in
the
Ile-de-France region and abroad. Various methods have emerged
from this study.
